Hello everyone! I know, I know... it's been a while! These last two months have been a whirlwind of preparations for baby number 2... and waiting. That being said, I thought I would give you a quick update on what's been going on in my life lately.
March: Work, Work, Work
March was a busy month for me. I worked a little more than usual... but at eight months pregnant it seemed like a lot. I spent most of the month with swollen ankles finishing up the last shifts before maternity leave--followed by almost daily Epsom salt baths. But I can't complain because everyone at work was so encouraging and understanding, especially with my pregnancy brain and less than ideal preggo waddling!
Other highlights from the month:
Liam's 3 year old check-up (a month late...),
26th birthday celebrations & sushi,
And spending time with my two favourite guys.
Oh, and finishing taxes. But I guess that wouldn't be considered a highlight.
April: Finally on Maternity Leave!
This past month consisted of a marathon of pregnancy preparations (I swore I was going to go into labour early) followed by waiting. And more waiting.
Highlights from the month:
Taking maternity photos (I had only taken a handful of bump pictures up until this point... you know... 2nd baby...),
Packing and repacking the hospital bag with Liam (he's so excited to be helping prep for his new sibling),
Remembering Christ's death and victorious resurrection at Easter and a visit to Bremfield's to see baby chicks,
Taking Liam on an mommy-son date to Peppa Pig Live!,
And soaking up time as just a family of three, of course!
May: The Real Waiting Game Begins!
So just in case you are wondering, yes, I'm still waiting for baby #2. Yes, I'm overdue! And yes, God continues to teach me patience (or show how much I really need to work on it). In fact, as labour draws closer, I'm finding I have to prepare less physically (e.g., cleaning, nesting, and paperwork) and spend more time preparing mentally this time around.
I've collaborated a list of Bible scripture to reflect on during labour and delivery, but I've been really leaning on Philippians 4:6-7 in these past few days:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
If you, too, are in a season of waiting right now, I encourage you to join me and really give your worries over to Christ in prayer. Lay your anxieties down at the feet of the cross. He's the only way to truly find peace for our weary hearts in the waiting.
