Fall, also known as my favourite time of year, boasts of crisp, sweatshirt weather, warm apple cider, and mouth-watering pumpkin pies. But it’s also a time of reflection and thanksgiving. So to commemorate the first of two Thanksgivings I celebrate each year, I’ve put together a list of 10 reasons of why I am feeling grateful today. I challenge you to stop this week and really reflect on all of the blessings you’ve been given, big or small, as well.
Here’s my list of 10 reasons I’m thankful (in no particular order, of course):
1. My Husband
My biggest encourager and confidant. And the best dad for Liam.
2. Freedom of Religion
Even as the future political state of the United States and Canada is uncertain, I am thankful that now, today, I have the freedom to meet regularly in a public place to worship God, study the Bible with others in my home, and express my beliefs freely on this blog.
3. My Home
Heat (and air conditioning), clean water, electricity, food in the fridge, a bed to sleep on, and a place to gather with friends and family or retreat to after a long day.
4. FaceTime and Skype
Being able to stay connected daily with family more than a 1000 miles away is truly one of the greatest blessings of this century.
5. My Toddler
Liam came into my life at just the right time. God has taught me more about love and patience through raising Liam than ever before. He's a joy. And he's worth the countless number of sleepless nights my husband and I have endured.
The comfort and hope I have knowing that my eternal future is secure in Christ.
7. The Ability to Learn
I’m thankful that every day presents a new opportunity to learn. Whether it’s from mentors at work, through the teachings at a bible study, from wisdom of other writers, or through family members. It’s a gift to be able to learn.
Each day I get to wake up, take care of my family, and work without chronic illness or a limiting ailment. I know life won’t always be like this. So today I’m thankful for my health.
9. My Parents
Also known as my support system and two of my best friends.
10. Morning Sickness
Yes, you've guessed it! My husband and I are expecting again Spring of 2017! An almost two-year prayer was answered this year, and the morning/all-day sickness reminds me daily of God’s faithfulness. And even if the constant nausea and exhaustion severely limits my ability to blog consistently right now (Hint: The primary reason why I’ve been MIA these past two months — sorry about that!), it will be all worth it when we can officially welcome a new baby into our family, the Lord willing.
Now it's your turn! What are you thankful for this year? Let me know in the comment section below!
